Lie of the land
Escoulin lies in the hills to the north of the Drome valley, and in the area of the Vercors Natural Park - a spectacular upland area of limestone hills, beech woods and distant views.
Escoulin sits in a steep sided valley about 20 kilometres long, with little else from bottom to top except small scale farming on the flatter ground, oak and pine woods on the hillsides, and the peace and beauty of a secluded valley.
Further afield there are spectacular landscapes as well as gentle tranquil scenes leading down to the much larger valley of the Drome.
