Crest, Die and Saillans
These are the 3 nearest towns, each 10 - 15 kilometeres from Escoulin, though Saillans is considerably smaller than Die and Crest.
All 3 are sited on the River Drome, and hold colourful markets, some of which we will visit.
Crest has a fascinating older town with lots of little streets and alleys leading up the hillside to the tower at the top. There's lots of photo potential here, and we will visit one evening for some worthwhile after sunset photography.
